Snacks

Snacks are now recognized as a part of people's daily food intake. While perhaps not recommended in great quantities, snacks still have their place in today's modern diet. When it comes to snack foods, they can take a wide variety of shapes and forms. They also can contain any number of nutrients, depending on what foods people most prefer to snack on during the day. Some snacks can in fact be very healthy while others could be less than ideal for consuming on a regular basis.

Some of today's most popular snacks include: Popcorn, Nuts, Fruit slices, Dried fruit, Snack cakes, Cheese curls, Cheese sticks and Pretzels.

Even the seemingly unhealthiest snack can still have nutrients like calcium or Vitamin D that benefits a person's health. Other snacks, such as popcorn or dried fruit, contain protein and Vitamin C that is quite good for a person to eat in great quantities each day. If the snack is low in fat or fat-free, people may reap the benefits without having to worry about the detriments of snacking between meals.
